You Big Chicken

This week has been a trial of patience, the work has really started to slow down. Every place we went people would either not answer the door or tell us they weren’t interested. This was disappointing, but we turned to the members and less actives for appointments to share a message with, but minutes before we would get ready to leave for the appointments they would call and cancel on us. That was the most frustrating part.

image1But it’s not just us, our whole zone has been struggling. People just don’t want to hear the messages we have. Some bright sides to this week, we had a trainer meeting down in Lilburn on Wednesday where we just report on how we are doing and how our trainers are doing on training us. I got to see the Elders from the MTC so it was super awesome! We have all grown so much since the last time we saw each other, it’s crazy how fast these past 6 weeks have gone!

image2After the meeting the mission president asked if we could drop off the paper area book papers to an area that got taken out of our mission and given to the Atlanta Mission and that mission doesn’t have iPads so they have to transfer all the information from iPads to paper. On the way to dropping the papers off we saw the big chicken. It was the first KFC built in Georgia around 1860 I believe. So we HAD to stop and take a picture.

image4Later on this week elder Spotten and I were trying to decide what to do for dinner. We joked around about burger king because we had gift cards. At Burger King they have 10 pc chicken nuggets for $1.49, I joked saying I’d get 40 and Elder Spotten said “you won’t” so, I had to….

When I ordered 40 the lady at the cash register looked at me and said, “40…?” I turned around and looked at Elder Spotten and said, “yeah… 40” then smiled. We took it home and I ended up forcing myself to eat all 40. IMG_0068I could slowly feel my body getting clogged up. But I did it, 1,900 calories later.

That’s pretty much the most exciting parts of this week. We are currently going through transfer calls finding out who is leaving and who is coming in. As far as we have been told, Elder Spotten and I are both staying in Jasper for another transfer (6 weeks). But we have 30 new missionaries coming in this transfer and 18 the next, so by next transfer over half the mission will be in training mode. Hopefully after the changes in our zone things will start to pick up and people will be more open! I hope y’all have a great week! And stay safe!

Love,
Elder Summers
