Happy 2018!! This week felt so long, I can’t believe it’s been a week since Christmas.
A few things happened this week that were a little odd but really cool. We found out last night at dinner that one of the members son-in-laws was my 4th cousin twice removed! We got on the subject of family history and decided to see if we were related and sure enough we were very close.
In the spirit of New Years and having a “fresh start” I wanted to talk about the story of Lot and his wife in the Bible.
They were given instructions to leave Sodom and Gomorrah because it was a wicked city. They were asked specifically to “Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed.”
But as the story goes, lots wife looked back as they were leaving and she was turned to a pillar of salt. We can learn several things from this; the Lord gives us instructions to turn away from sin, to not longingly look back on our past and desire to go back but He asks us to look forward.
The Sacrifice of Jesus Christ made repentance possible, He made change possible. Everyday, if we know it or not, we already always changing.
Time keeps ticking and tomorrow is never promised, so live today to its fullest by abiding what God needs you to do and I know you will be happier.
I’m so grateful for the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the ability it has to change our nature to align our will with God’s.
I’m so excited to see what this year has in store and I’m so grateful I was able to spend all of 2017 sharing the gospel with all of God’s children. I hope everyone has a great week and a happy new year!
