I had sent an email out earlier today, but it never sent so I’m taking it as a sign that there was something else I was suppose to talk about instead. We had a really amazing experience last Monday doing family history and finding my own name to take to the temple that I wanted to share but the spirit says otherwise. That’s one of the neatest things I’ve seen on my mission. Whatever the spirit says, follow it.

\n\"\"<\/a>The Lord has a plan for you that’s much greater than what we can possibly imagine. And often times we find ourselves debating what is or is not the spirit and we make choices that sometimes spin us into a cycle of regret or facing trials we were not expecting. But it’s those trials that help us learn, and that learning process is what I feel this email needed to be about, rather than a cool family name I had found.<\/p>\n

We were talking with a member after a lesson with someone and this topic of going through trials came up. And we all know that trials are meant to help us and they give us a new perspective on things or a greater appreciation of something. <\/p>\n

They are there to help us as mortal beings progress in this life. Now as we talked about this we were discussing the things we have seen on our missions, (the member had served a mission as well), and how the things that we have seen has helped us really shape and decide what we do and don’t want to do with our lives, it’s given us a new perspective because we see day in and day out these broken homes, or unhappy lives, and all this trouble and burden that these people carry with them because they don’t even know what can help them, but then we also see and have front row seats to some of the greatest miracles like when someone receives an answer to a prayer, or they see what the gospel has to offer and they allow it to change their life.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Even though we see these things, we may not fully understand what the people are going through, we never see what happens behind closed doors in someone’s life. Everyone is struggling in one way or another, and what was brought up was that as we individually go through our trials, we learn something. We learn how to overcome, we learn what it feels like, we learn what’s good, and we learn how to recognize it because you, yourself, are going through it. Which enables you to be an instrument in helping someone else.<\/p>\n

In life we learn in three ways. The first is when we were kids, we learn from the experiences of others, what your parents, your family, your friends say isn’t good because they may have at one point experienced it either themselves or they know someone who has. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>The second way we learn is usually most common in our teenage years, when you start to adventure out and say, “I wanna do it myself, I can make my own choices.” You start to learn through trial and error, which causes us to gain a personal experience\/testimony as we experiment and make mistakes. This is most commonly known as learning “the hard way.” And lastly we learn from learning, we weigh our options and we make decisions based on logic and reasoning.<\/p>\n

What I want to get at is this, life is filled with progression, it’s filled with paths to take, choices to make, and one way or another there are consequences whether they be good or bad, but that’s what fulfills our purpose in this life. Our trials are merely the water to the clay, it allows us to be molded to something else, something much greater. <\/p>\n

We were created by a loving Father in Heaven who allows us to experience hardships because he wants us to become. We can become something much greater than what we may expect. Trust God. Trust His plan. And Trust his spirt, because that is what will guide you as you follow our Savior Jesus Christ so that we to can become and fulfill what is expected of us.
