This past week we had the opportunity to visit with a former investigator and his girlfriend. Things currently have been a little rough for him so he wanted us to stop by and share a message with them.
Upon talking we found out that his girlfriend is now pregnant and they were struggling. We started off as a simple message from the scriptures soon turned into us answering questions the girlfriend had about the church and about life after death.
About an hour later we had taught the first three discussions as well as the importance of temples and family history and eternal marriage. The spirit was immensely strong throughout the lesson and I felt such a firm testament of the truth of this gospel and the power behind the Book of Mormon.
Daily reading and prayer are some of the most crucial things in our day. We need to have at least those two things to be more in tune with spiritual promptings and to feel more peace throughout our day.
At the end of our discussion with these people I made a promise out of faith to the girlfriend that If she were to read and pray about the Book of Mormon then the worries she has about her child will subside and she will have peace.
I am fully confident that the Book of Mormon has the power to do that. It is true. It is a means for us to come closer to our Heavenly Father and to know our Savior Jesus Christ more. I have felt so much more love for people as I have read and testified of the Book of Mormon.
It was written for our day to guide us and strengthen us. I am blessed and I am grateful for the knowledge and experiences I have been given as I have shared this message about the restored gospel and I know with my full heart that it is true.
I would encourage each of you to embark on the journey of gaining and strengthening their own testimony of this restored gospel. What a great opportunity we have to live in these latter days.
I hope each of you have a wonderful week.
Love,
Elder Summers
