Life is an Opportunity

Something I’m really grateful for is prayer. It’s really that one-on-one evaluation time we have each day to either ask for help, vent, or just express gratitude for the many blessings we are given in life.

For the past few days Elder Beckey and I have been praying for people by name every morning and evening and praying for more and more opportunities to find someone who can benefit from hearing an uplifting message. And over the course of these past 6 days we’ve been opened to so many more people and the particular people on our list have been reaching out to us more and have found time to let us come by.

Prayer is an opportunity to talk to the creator of the Universe. What we go through in life, God wants to hear about it! He’s a loving God who knows each of us by name and knows what we go through, but just like a class room, if we don’t ask the teacher for help or let them know we are struggling, then they sometimes can’t make the necessary steps to helping you.

You need to make the effort to reach out. This shows you are willing. You’re in a state where you want help and you allowing God to give you that help. Sometimes we may think that if God knows everything we go through then why should we ask for help? Why can’t he just fix it?

The wonderful thing about our Heavenly Father is that he respects us. He has allowed us to be agents unto ourselves, where we can choose right from wrong, and choose actions we take. He isn’t going to make life a Disney ride for us, he needs us to progress on our own sometimes so we can appreciate him when he does help.

I couldn’t be more grateful for today. Today was a blessing because I was alive, I was given the chance to make a difference in someone else’s life. I was given the ability to make choices, and to
understand more of why I am here. Everyone has this same opportunity.

I say opportunity because it’s not something that is guaranteed, we may never know what will happen. So it’s a gift to be here on this life. No matter how tough it can be sometimes, try and take a moment to breathe and remember why you’re here.

Take moments to pray and thank God for today, and thank him for the many blessings he gives you. There is a lot we sometimes take for granted. Your Heavenly Father loves you. He cares about you. And he wants to hear from you.

Allow him to help you more by being willing to accept his help. I saw a sign today that said, “In order to lift your soul, you must first bend your knees.” I hope everyone has a wonderful week, I love you and I pray for you.

Love,

Elder Summers
