Fort Yargo 2.0

This week’s message is going to be short even though it felt like the longest week ever. Tomorrow is transfers and Elder Beckey will be leaving to Peach Tree Corners down in the Rosewell Stake.

I’m sad to see him go but he is such an amazing missionary and is going to do great. I loved every minute I got to serve with him and I truly learned a lot. I can’t say it enough of how big of a blessing he was to me and I tell everyone I can of how humble and charitable he is. It’s one of his biggest strengths that make him the great person he is.

For my last transfer I’ll be staying here in Hickory Flat. It’s a wonderful ward filled with wonderful people. Now my last companion… I can’t help but laugh because it doesn’t seem real, but I’ll be spending it with Elder Sanders lol.

This will be our fourth transfer together. Yes it’s the same Elder Sanders I served with for three transfers in Fort Yargo. We are getting one last go at building the missionary work up in Georgia.

It’s funny because the other day I thought about Fort Yargo and how much I missed it and Elder Sanders so I guess I need to be careful with what I say! But it’ll be good, I’m excited for this next transfer!

I guess the highlight for the week is the talks we gave yesterday. Yes I have now given two talks on my mission, it’s a miracle.

I could probably stop there but it was a pretty neat experience. Our topics were on the ward mission plan and a big focus in our Stake has been Family History.

My entire talk was based off of experiences I’ve had and people I’ve met on my mission. But at the end I talked about a new initiative our Mission President is having us do regarding family history.

At the moment we are making what’s called Family History Journals where we make a folder full of stories from our ancestors, or relations to people, or just neat things that you find that you can share with people about family history.

It’s a simple and sweet way to share the gospel and you see the power of the spirit of Elijah when talking to people. Take the time when you have it to do Family History, it’s cool.

I hope you have a great week!

Love,

Elder Summers
